Discovery was the second studio album by the French house music duo, Daft Punk released on March 12, 2001 by Virgin Records and Daft Life. It marked a shift in the sound from a house in Chicago which they are previously known for to disco, post-disco, garage house and synthpop-inspired house. The album provided itself as a soundtrack to the anime film, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem which was a collaboration between Daft Punk, Leiji Matsumoto and Toei Animation.

Homework is the debut studio album by French electronic music duo Daft Punk, released on 17 January 1997 with Virgin Records. Homework's success brought worldwide attention to French house music. According to The Village Voice, the album revived house music and departed from the Eurodance formula. The duo produced the tracks without plans to release an album. After working on projects that were intended to be separate singles over five months, they considered the material good enough for an album.

The soundtrack to Joseph Kosinski's TRON: Legacy was composed by Daft Punk. Kosinski, said at the 2010 Comic-Con Panel for TRON: Legacy that Daft Punk's score was, "an incredible blend between electronic music, orchestral music, and...an interesting mix between music and sound design." Daft Punk have stated the original TRON soundtrack as an influence.

The name of the album comes from Daft Punk's online music service, which featured remixed songs, a live recording of Daft Punk performing at the Que Club (which would later be released as Alive 1997), and an a cappella and instrumental version of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". The service was available for free to people who bought early versions of the Discovery album. Each album included a "Daft Club" membership card, which granted access to the Daft Club website. The service ended in January 2003.

Musique Vol. 1 1993–2005 is an anthology by Daft Punk released in Japan on 29 March 2006, in the United Kingdom on 3 April 2006, and in the United States on 4 April 2006. The name of the album comes from "Musique", a song that was initially released as the B-side to "Da Funk". Although it was released before Daft Punk's debut album Homework, "Musique" was not intended for it.
